Kootenay Choir In Concert
Members of the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ

Castlegar British Columbia Canada

Unity amongst Canadian Doukhobors and people of goodwill, has always been strengthened by choral cultural exchanges across the Western provinces. Kootenay Choir, responded positively to an invitation to visit several communities as far east as Veregin, Kamsack, Saskatoon, Blaine Lake, Cowley, Creston and the Provincial Museum of Alberta.

Our Tour of Friendship was accompanied by John J. Verigin, Honorary Chairman of the U.S.C.C., who just returned from a visit to Israel and the Holy Land. His message of peace and brotherhood was received enthusiastically at the St. Peters Day commemoration of the Burning of Arms by our people in Russia in 1895.

It was memorable to perform to a capacity crowd in the Provincial Museum of Alberta. Here, Mr. Horst Schmidt, Minister of Culture of Alberta, warmly welcomed our group and stressed the importance of preserving one's cultural identity.

This recording contains the repertoire of our Tour of Friendship across Western Canada. It is our sincere hope that songs of peace and brotherhood will unite all mankind into a peaceful family which abounds in love and harmony.
