The
Aragon collection was
the first collection of recordings on 78s the Doukhobors
participated in, and this collection has only the
Grand Forks, BC (Canada) U.S.C.C. Doukhobors.
Because of the condition of the records acquired
to do this digital collection, only a superficial
cleaning/de-noising was administered.
Some records were simply unavailable to process
or too poor condition to try. (Notably, the Aragon
label selections of the late 1940s were in the poorest
of condition/quality - due mostly to the fact that
the material used on the records themselves wasn't
as perfected as latter date recordings, and that
turntable tone arms were heavy and needles of that
time were made of steel, contributing to excessive
premature wear). Click on any of the thumbnail records
to listen (please be patient while sound loads).
